Marcos

Marcos is so very intelligent and has a thirst for knowledge. At the same time, it’s a challenge for him to not hog the spotlight. He tends to try hard to overshadow others, not waiting his turn to participate or interrupting. He is just so proud of the hard work he puts in, and so we’re working on channeling that enthusiasm more positively by encouraging to help and influence others, rather than compete with them. All part of the growing up process. He’s also a very talented dancer.

July - Marcos!

Hola!

Wow! What an amazing summer we've had! And we're already almost halfway into July! We can't believe how fast it's going, but the kids couldn't be happier to be spending so much time in the club. We're here 5 days week, we've added more and more classes, and we have volunteers coming in from all over the place and the kids are loving the break from school. Here is a picture of Marcos just hanging out at the club one day, after finishing his classes. We love the summer! Happy summering to you and yours!

Vanessa participating and enjoying one of our newest classes, yoga! Some of our volunteers for the summer have introduced a class twice a week for yoga and twice a week for dancing. The kids love it!

Halloween

Dove was able to get a huge donation of Halloween costumes and threw a giant party for the kids on the afternoon of Halloween, during Saturday Boys and Girls Club. The kids, as you can see, had a blast!

In typical Marcos fashion, he found the most outrageous costume! Yes, that is him with the blue hair and long white wig!

Vanessa: Salon Work

One of the longer term goals for Dove is to teach the kids vocations so that as they grow older, they can support their families. These older girls are interested in working in a salon. Conveniently, there is one located right near the Center. The girls are very excited to learn how to work in a salon, as you can see from their big smiles! Vanessa will take part in this program.
